MX Chain

Renthal R1 Chain is a high-performance, lightweight, low-friction, non o-ring chain specifically engineered for racing at the highest levels. Often described as "the best motocross chain available", the R1 Chain has high resistance to elongation and severe abrupt stresses encountered in MX & SX racing. This is achieved by manipulating raw material composition to increase tensile strength and yield strength

Each R1 Works Chain features chamfered inner links, extended bushings, shot-peened outer plates and manufacturing processes. This reduces weight in a durable and safe motocross chain that can be trusted to deliver maximum power output in any condition.

  • Shot Peened

The Steel plates are shot peened to give them a high tensile strength and maximum impact load resistance.

  • Chamfered Link

The inner links are chamfered, this process helps reduce the chance of chain derailment in the toughest conditions. * *415 and 420-R1 chain do not have chamfered inner links.

  • Chromised Pins

Specifically for the off-road market, the bearing pins are chromised, giving them excellent resistance to wear in the gritty conditions endured in off-road racing.

  • Bushings

Pre-formed bushings distribute the load, resulting in greater chain life. The bushings extended to reduce friction between inner and outer link plates, maximising power output.

  • Special Finish

The gold side plates have a corrosion resistant plating that provides it with an attractive colour to match all motorcycles.

  • Perfect Match

Pair with any Renthal Chainwheel and get the maximum power at the rear wheel with an extended life for both chain and chainwheels.

    Important Product Warnings

    General

    • This product must be fitted by a qualified mechanic
    • Do not use this product following a crash, or if the product is damaged or marked in any way
    • Follow motorcycle owners manual for correct fitment
    • Once fitted, carefully check there is no contact between the chain and the motorcycle causing interference, when the rear wheel is spinning.

    Cleaning and lubrication

Wash using a soft brush with paraffin or kerosene (avoid steam, petrol or solvents). Dry immediately with a light air jet, then lubricate with Renthal chain lube (Part no. L-102) or equivalent lube.

    Fitting Advice

When replacing a chain it is best practice to replace both front and rear chainwheels also. A new chain will wear quicker when used with a worn chainwheel and vice versa.
