How to fit Renthal® Lock-On Grips

Fitting a set of Renthal® MX Lock-On Grips is an extremely simple task that can be completed by any home mechanic.

Before Fitting : Review MX Lock-On Important Safety Information

Time Required : 15mins

Tools Required : Torque Wrench, 3mm Hex Key, Motorcycle Manual, Throttle Assembly Tools


Step 1 : Remove throttle tube and left side grip

Following the manufacturers suggestion remove the existing throttle tube and left side grip from the motorcycle.

Step 2 : Slide left side Grip onto handlebar

Identify the left side grip (Lock-On Collar), slide it over onto the handlebar. You will feel some slight resistance as you approach the end of the grip, keep sliding until you feel a hard stop.

Step 3 : Evenly tighten both screws to 3Nm

Remove the screws from the back of the packaging, apply a small amount of grease and insert them in the threaded holes. Tighten them evenly to 3Nm using a calibrated torque wrench.

Step 4 : Identify correct cam for your motorcycle

Using Fit My Bike or the Cam Fitment List, identify the correct cam fitment for your motorcycle.

Step 5 : Align and snap cam onto throttle grip

Simply align the small triangle on the cam to the line on the grip core.

Step 6 : Fit throttle as per owner’s manual

Using the motorcycle owner’s manual, follow the steps to correctly reassemble the throttle housing.

Step 7 : Check everything functions

Before using your motorycle check everything functions correctly. Check throttle actuates correctly. Steering is not impeded. Left Side grip does not rotate on handlebar. Review Important Safety Warnings for an in-depth check.

Step 8 : Go Ride!

Hit the track or trail and enjoy the ride with your new Renthal MX Lock-On Grips.
