Fatbar36 Testing
Both real world and Lab testing are used in our R&D program.
What is real world testing?
For real world testing we utilise feedback from our race teams and also specific tests with a range of riders from Pro level down to beginner. This testing can be feedback on a new part or durability testing to understand how the product performs across its life.
In the last few years we have taken our real world testing to the next level by using data acquisition so we can measure the loads going through the handlebars during given situations.
What lab testing do you do?
Renthal has its own lab where we can run fatigue tests, tensile tests, drop tests, bend tests and hardness tests. We use this facility for proving out quality in day to day production as well as a useful tool for developing new products.
How important is lab testing?
Lab testing is important to achieve a foundation of knowledge and help back up real world testing. We have found it to be more useful since we have been using data acquisition and have real world data to help create specific tests.
